Literacy Week

Dear families,

Literacy Week is well on its way at Kitchener!
Yesterday, we read “My Heart Fills with Happiness” by Monique Gray Smith and everyone created a heart to be placed on classroom doors.
Today, we are developing our numerical literacy as a whole school. Tomorrow, we will focus on physical literacy. Check out the yoga poses posters on the fence by the basketball courts.
Thursday, January 23rd: Cultural Literacy

9:00 – 9:30am Family/sibling read in classrooms. Families are invited to spend time reading together in their child’s classroom. For families with multiple children at Kitchener, older siblings will read in the younger sibling’s classrooms. Families are welcome to attend either assembly in the gym.

We encourage students to bring their favourite books from home to share with their classmates as well as reading the books that are in our classes.

Friday, January 24: Celebration of Learning & Dress up day

We will have two assemblies with the same presentations at both. The odd divisions will be in the gym at 1pm and the even divisions will be in the gym at pm. Families are welcome to come watch at 1 or 2pm.

We are inviting everyone to dress up in any outfit that makes them feel happy. It could be a themed outfit, a favourite book or character costume, a shirt that has words, a team jersey, a favourite colour, or their Kitchener HAWKS shirt.

Thank you for your support!
